HAMBURGER EYES ISSUE 013 — On Kickstarter

What happens when you can’t get a publisher to bite on your book? The pledge-to-print model is growing in popularity, especially because tools like Kickstarter make it so easy. This site allows you to create a fundraising page for a specific cause, from which you can manage money, notifications, etc.
This is a great success story from our own San Francisco-based Hamburger Eyes. They usually print when they get the funds, which isn’t very often. So they said, we’re not printing the next issue, which they already had hundreds of photos for, until we raise $3,000. They did that in 3 days. So they upped the ante to $4,000, made that in around a week, and printed one of the biggest issues they’ve ever done.
